Home Security Devices come in a wide variety of sensors. Thieves are not the only thing that can damage your processions. All of the following can sometimes cause more damage than any burglar.

  • Fire Damage
  • Smoke Damage
  • Water Damage
  • Heat Damage
  • Humidity

May consumers think that a security system is to guard against intrusion into your home from a human. That is the primary concern but if you already have a security system then the following devices can add extra protection to your home.

360 degree motion sensors are typically mounted on the ceiling and they provide protection in a full 360 degrees.

Standard Motion Sensor http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-motionsensor.jpg

Standard motion sensors are typically mounted on a wall or in a corner to provide a maximum coverage. PIR or Passive Infrared sensors detect the energy emitted by an intruder’s body heat. When someone walks into the field of view of the detector the sensor detects the increase in energy. These devices will only react when there is a rapid change in energy levels thus reducing false alarms.

Motion Sensor Outdoor http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-outdoormotionsensor.jpg

Outdoor Motion Sensors are designed to protect the perimeter of your home or business. The cost is higher for an outdoor motion sensor due to the construction to make it weatherproof. When selecting a motion sensor make sure to ask about the range of the detector and built in safeguards for false alarms.

Beam Detectors have a transmitter and a receiver. They are setup to be line of sight so that the both must have a direct view of each other. When the beam is interrupted by someone or something walking through the beam the alarm will sound.

Hold Up Button http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-panicbutton.jpg

A hold up or panic button is usually associated with a business but especially with home invasions on the rise they are definitely an asset to residential applications. The button can be mounted anywhere in your house and connected to the security system. When pushed the alarm can either be silent or audible.

Programmable Temperature Sensor

Temperature sensors can be used in a wide variety of applications. If you have assets that will be damaged when the temperature gets too high or too low then a temperature sensor can protect your assets. These devices can be programmed for high and low and an alarm will be triggered when the temperature goes outside either limit. http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-temperaturesensor.jpg

Fixed Temperature Sensor

Typical applications for a fixed temperature device are to detect freezing temperatures. In colder climates freezing of water pipes can cause extreme amounts of damage to your home. These devices can alert you before the damage is done.

Water Sensor http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-watersensor.jpg

When water accumulates in the wrong area from a leak a lot of damage can occur. These devices can detect the water and alert you before the levels reach valuable assets.

Pressure Mat http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-pressuremat.jpg

Pressure mats will detect an intruder when they are walked on. They provide specific protection as they must be stepped on to cause an alarm.

Smoke Detector http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-smokedetector.jpg

Fires cause smoke and smoke detectors detect smoke. It’s that simple! Smoke detectors connect to your alarm system and generate a unique alarm so your central station can dispatch the correct authorities.

Heat Detector http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-heatdetector.jpg

A heat detector basically comes in two types. Fixed and rate of rise. A fixed heat detector generates an alarm when the temperature reaches the designated temperature. A rate of rise detector sees a rapid change in heat and then generates an alarm.

Asset Protection http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-assetprotection.jpg

These devices are mounted to an asset such as a TV or an expensive painting. When the asset is moved the alarm is generated.

Carbon Monoxide Detector http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-carbonmonoxide.jpg

CO detectors are designed to measure CO levels over time and sound an alarm before dangerous levels of CO accumulate in an environment, giving people adequate warning to safely ventilate the area or evacuate.

Recessed Door Contacts 3/4 inch

Recessed door contacts are concealed into the door frame and connected to the alarm system. When the door is opened an alarm will be generated.

Recessed Door Contacts 3/8 inch

Recessed door contacts are concealed into the door frame and connected to the alarm system. When the door is opened an alarm will be generated.

Surface Door Contacts with terminals

These contacts are mounted on the surface of the door frame and are visible. They are typically used when drilling in a window frame will void your warranty or when the wire cannot be concealed in the wall.

Roller type door contact

Roller type door contacts can effectively be used in the hinge side of a door. When the door is closed the contact is depressed. If the door is opened then the contact opens and the alarm is generated.

Armored Cable Roll up Door Contact

Roll up door contacts are have armored cable attached to them due to the environment that they are used. There is a high probability that the contact will be run over by a car or some type of machinery.

Pull Apart Contact http://usahomesecuritysystems.com/img-devices/thumbnail-pullapartcontact.jpg

There are also special Pull Apart Contacts for special applications. The connection can be easily separated when the system is unarmed for day use and then reconnected and armed for after hours.
